Fiestas de Sant Joan
In Ibiza the summer solstice begins with the festival of Sant Joan, during the longest night of the year, young people jump over open fires. However this year the celebration will be in solidarity with the people that suffered material loss during recent forest fire that affected areas in the north of the Island. During this years fiesta activity programm, at Midnight on June 23rd as a symbolic act there will be jumping over unlit fire to show respect for the loss of others. There will be many other activities during the night and also during the 24th, concerts, tasters of local gastronomy, etc.
The celebrations will last a forthnight from June 10th with an artesan market to June 27th with special party for older folk in the village. Sant Joan, is also known as one of the quaint little towns with great samples of Ibicencan tradition, don't miss it.
