Medieval Festival
Every year, on the second weekend of May (so 6th, 7th and 8th this year), Ibiza’s Medieval Festival brings over 100,000 people flocking to the old cobbled streets of Ibiza Town to celebrate everything that was best about the middle ages in Ibiza. The festival marks the declaration of Dalt Vila as a world heritage site.
The walled city plays host to a vast program of entertainment including a medieval market with noblemen, knights in shining armour, dragons and pipe-players. Costumed men fight for the crowd's attention with street shows, fire blowing, dance and comedy whilst onlookers can sample home-made food products and learn about typical instruments and customs. We must not forget the giant Octopus bubbling in a sauce pan evoking the buzzing atmosphere of 600 years ago.
The climb to the top of the hill goes unnoticed as every inch of the pavement offers something new, from animals, to Jugglers and spectacular gymnastics suspended from the Old Town wall.
